Bringing the imagination to light with glass

With a background in Fine Art, and a keen interest in fairy tales and Irish folklore, my glass work currently consists of hand-painted and screen-printed elements on kiln-fired and fused glass to create unique illustrative pieces.

I offer a range of fused glass light-catchers, from airy winged hearts to a playful cup of tea. Also available is a selection of wearable items, such as fused glass pendants and screen-printed brooches. I am currently crafting fairy tale characters, such as Red Riding Hood and Bluebeard, with hand-painted and screen-printed elements.

All of my glass art is handmade with love in my home studio in rural Co. Sligo.

Have a look, and I hope you find something you like.

A bit about me

For over 20 years I have been working with the magical medium of glass. It all started while I was studying Fine Art in D.I.T., and constructed a pair of life-sized stained glass wings that I could wear. I wore these wings on location in a disused flour mill and recorded the event through photography. 'Earthbound' was the name of this artwork. The wings were the main inspiration for the name 'of wings and things'.

My exploration of glass continued and my love for the medium grew during my studies in Edinburgh College of Art, where I undertook a degree in Glass. I specialised in kiln-casting, creating sculptural installation work. Since graduating in 2011 I have exhibited my work in the UK, Czech Republic, Denmark and Washington, USA, as well as at home in Ireland.
