Painted and fused glass St. Brigid figure
€65.00
St. Brigid is one of Ireland's patron saints. Her feast day is on February 1st, when we herald the spring.
I designed and created these unique fused glass figures with both the goddess and the saint in mind. Her cloak is adorned with hand-painted mystical spirals and dots and crosses, representing both the earthy human saint and the spiritual goddess.
I chose a bright green glass to represent the spring and the earthy, and a deep blue glass to represent the mystical.
This fused glass St. Brigid figure was fired twice: firstly, all of the pieces were fired to 760°C in a fuse firing, and then fired a second time to 700°C after more hand-painted detail was added.
A hole was drilled in the top of the piece, and it was finished with pale blue twine for hanging.
Each figure is accompanied by a printed note with a short description on the background of the piece.
Size: approx. 21cm x 7cm
Made with love in my home studio in rural Co. Sligo
